The small claims judge at George Deukmejian Courthouse is the Hon. Douglas W. Stern. Judge Stern was elected to the Los Angeles County Superior Court in 2013. After graduating form UCLA School of Law in 1978, Stern worked as a partner at two LA law firms. As an attorney he specialized in business litigation. Judge Stern served as the mayor of Rancho Palos Verdes in 2003 and 2008, and as Palos Verdes city councilman for ten years. Stern is a registered Democrat.

The small claims division is located on the first floor, in Room 1401. After entering the courthouse atrium and passing through security, you will be directed to Room 1401.
