The presiding judge is the Honorable W. Steven Shayer. Shayer is a graduate of the Pepperdine School of Law. Before his appointment to the bench, Shayer worked in private practice and handled legal matters relating to business, employment, and contractual disputes. The Kern County-Shafter Branch courthouse is located off of Central Valley Highway. Drive down the highway or down California Avenue. Once you turn into the complex, the court will be located on the west side.
