The presiding judge of the Sacramento Small Claims court is the Honorable Russell L. Hom. Hom is a graduate of U.C. Hastings School of Law. Before being appointed to the bench in 2002, Hom worked as a deputy district attorney for three years and then went into private practice.
There is paid parking in the front lot of the Carol Miller Justice Center. The cost to maintain parking in this lot is $2.00 for two hours and $1.00 for each additional hour, with a limit of $8.00 for the entire day. In order to park in the court parking lot, you will need to acquire a parking pass from the automated parking pass machine. Parking is free for those with a disability designation on their vehicle.
The busiest time of day at the courthouse varies, with Monday's busiest time being 1:00 p.m. On Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, the busiest times are the hours between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. On Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. is the busiest time.
The courthouse can be accessed through the numerous public transit operations offered by the city of Sacramento. Sacramento Regional Transit, Yolo County Transportation District, Roseville Transit, Elk Grove Transit Services, and Amtrak all have lines that drive to the courthouse.
The Small Claims division is in the Carol Miller Justice Center, situated at the crossroads between Folsom Blvd. and Power Inn Rd. Once inside the courthouse, the location of the Small Claims department is the third floor of the courthouse in room 320.
