The Compton Courthouse has multiple small claims judges. The department is currently presided by Commissioner Victor M. Acevedo. Commissioner Acevedo graduated from Loyola School of Law and was admitted to the California State Bar in 1998. Hon. Acevedo served as a deputy public defender for years before being elected to the California Superior Court. Commissioner Acevedo was involved in notable 2008 criminal case in which he criticized alleged LAPD corruption.
